What is 4VM? 4VM is the 4 Vector Model: a pre-implementation strategic stress test used to assess the viability of a decision before it is carried out.
Who is it for? 4VM is for business owners, leaders, and organisations considering a significant strategic move and wanting to test it before committing resources.
When is the best time to use it? Before committing significant time, money, staffing, or reputation to a strategic move.
What kinds of decisions can it be used for? It can be used for decisions such as expansion, restructuring, new services, partnerships, hiring, and operational change — any strategic move where execution and organisational fit matter.
What does it assess? It tests a proposed move across four areas: Intent, Capability, Culture, and Governance.
What do I gain from it? A clearer view of the decision's strengths, weaknesses, risks, and constraints — giving you greater confidence before commitment.
What is the main benefit of 4VM? Better decision confidence through a structured pre-implementation challenge.
Does 4VM tell me what decision to make? No. It does not replace leadership judgment. It strengthens judgment by applying a structured challenge to the proposed move.
Does 4VM only identify problems? No. It also highlights strengths and areas where the decision appears robust. If your move is sound, the assessment will show that.
What if the model shows that my idea is weak? That is part of the value. It is better to identify weaknesses before time, money, or reputation is wasted.
Is success guaranteed? No. 4VM is a decision-support tool, not a guarantee of outcome. Its value lies in reducing avoidable strategic errors before commitment.
How is it different from ordinary business advice? It is not a general opinion or motivational consultancy. It is a defined model for interrogating whether a strategic move is clear, achievable, supportable, and governable in practice.
Is it a consultancy or a framework? It can be either. You can learn the framework and apply it internally, or engage me to apply it directly to a live decision.
How quickly can it be done? In many cases, the process can be completed within one day once booked and once the necessary information is available.
What do you need from me? I work through a structured series of diagnostic questions. You do not need to share sensitive or confidential information — I am interrogating the integrity of the decision, not the underlying secrets behind it. The RAG rating is determined through that process.
Can you work with sensitive information? You are not required to disclose sensitive or commercially critical information. The model interrogates the structure and soundness of the decision rather than the details behind it.
Is it confidential? Yes. Information is handled confidentially, and I am happy to work under a non-disclosure agreement where required.
Can teams use it together? Yes. It can be used by an individual decision-maker or with a leadership team working through a live strategic issue.
Can 4VM be used more than once? Yes. It is a reusable model that can be applied to future decisions as well as the current one.
